Today we are going to start with “WHY.”
Why you cannot wait another minute, hour, or day to start your WAHM business.
Why you must take action today to shape your family’s future now!
Why you have an incredible opportunity to make a difference in the lives of who really matters to you.
Below Guy Kawasaki describes his “why” to Entrepreneur magazine:
The “why” of your startup is what gets you motivated. Kawasaki, whose purpose is empowering people, said that his own “why” is simple: “I have four children. I’ve got a lot of tuition to pay.”
Kawasaki further states to Find your “why,” so you’ll be fired up to reach the sky.W.H.Y. (Work Hard for YOU)!Click To Tweet
9 Reasons to Start Now
1. To follow your passion and do what you love. (No excuses!)
Gary Vaynerchuk’s inspirational presentation says it all. Watch and be inspired.
2. You’re not the boss of me!
Actually if you are still working in Corporate America, then someone is the boss of you.
Thinking maybe that needs to change, I know I sure was.
It took me a while to see it, but that last lay off when the government shut down in 2014 really put things into perspective for me.
One resounding understanding I achieved during the layoff was this…I am not the boss of me.
And no matter how much I needed that job because the benefits really helped my son and our family, it didn’t matter.
They were trimming the fat and I was on the chopping list.
I decided that devastating day, as I had about 10 minutes to clear out of my office, that no one would ever (and I mean ever) be the boss of me, again.
Makes moves today to be your own boss because at the end of the day you will never tire of nor fire you.
3. Lower Start-Up cost (if any)
Have you checked out the Instant Entrepreneur Method which shows how to start a business with less than $100.
This super simple method can be done in a few hours each day.
And this is just one example of a low-cost WHAM business that you can start in your spare time (if you have any of that).
4. PJ Party
The beauty of being a WAHM is that you can literally wake up, and go to work.
No pressure to wake super early, commute in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour, still arriving late and frustrated.
Location independence is a great perk to starting your WAHM business today momma. After all, the bags under your eyes will thank ya!
Yes, WAHMs can have the flexibility of a yogi…seriously.
Need to attend an IEP meeting today at noon, pssst no problemo.
Back to back therapy appointments cramping your style?
Nope, because you now have the flexibility to adjust your schedule as you see fit.
6. Make Money While You Sleep
Oh yes, this one is super cool.
My shopify store app on my cell has the best tone when I make a sale, and it is the cha ching of a cash register.
Imagine hearing that at about 1:30 am. Mad? Nah, I just made money in my sleep.
The businesses we are discussing are pretty much set them up and leave them.
Sure there is work that needs to be done daily but it is very minimal.
For my eCom store, I place all my orders first thing in the morning which takes about an hour to create the Purchase Orders and email them to my manufacturers.
Many WAHM businesses follow this same pattern. Daily oversight that can be done wherever, whenever, and by whomever.
Ever tried to send someone else into your 9 to 5 to do your job so you could have a little time to yourself?
Probably not because only teachers get substitutes!
7. Your Efforts Benefit You
Your work in = the rewards you get out, but it all benefits you and your family.
Makes no sense to sacrifice 10-12 hours of your 16 awake time hours working to the benefit of someone else.
I won’t say it’s a thankless job, but common sense shows that it’s always best to invest in yourself and in your family as this is where you will reap the largest rewards.
Besides, I work that much harder knowing that my efforts directly impact my life.
8. Low Barrier to Entry
You should try to find a niche business that utilizes your knowledge, skills, and abilities but let’s face it how many of us are even working in the same field as our degree.
Probably none. Why? Because OJT is a necessity in any job so you learn as you go.
Trained in one career but have a steadfast passion in another?
Passion wins out every time as it’s what keeps you moving in the right direction.
9. More Time For What Really Matters
Our babies need us!
Every bit of support and love they can get helps propel them towards their best. My son is a little show off when I attend therapy and I am always amazed to find the little tips and tricks employed to get him to behave a certain way.
These are things we need to see first-hand and not hear about over the phone.
Discovering your “WHY” will help you uncover your true motivation allowing you to push past any obstacles or hurdles that stand in your way.
Having a clearly defined why as your goal will keep you moving towards the finish line even when things get tough.
One thing special needs mommies are is fighters and we will fight to the end to give our children their hearts desires.
So from one special needs mommy to another, I urge you to uncover your passion and find your “WHY.”
