Hey there family,
Today let’s chat about starting your WAHM business.
Now I know starting a WAHM business seems like some some elusive fairy tale complete with white unicorns, but what if I told you that you really could start your WAHM career right now.
Can you quit your day job today, hell no but I do recommend you take the first steps towards changing your life for the better.
Whether your goal is to supplement your income or to totally become a special needs WAHM, we can do this together!Whether your goal is to supplement your income or to totally become a special needs WAHM, we can do this together!Click To Tweet
Let’s start with a massive brainstorming session and explore a few ideas.
The goal here is to learn a bit about each business to see if it interest you enough to add it to your list of possible business niches to explore in the future.
It’s important to keep an open mind as you consider your options and also to understand that your first business may not be “the one.”
This is perfectly fine and quite honestly the only way to do it, otherwise you will never know what is right for you and your family.
So allow yourself this time to consider all the options.
For instance, I am totally in love with eCommerce right now.
I enjoy working with new customers, that cha ching cash register sound my phone makes when a new sale comes in… but yet, there may come a time when I will want to sell my stores and move on to try something else.
So no pressure here, let’s just begin to expand our minds into the opportunities.
You will notice some of these ideas are relevant to our lives as special needs moms and are services that we soooo need in our community.
A few of these spring from problems I have faced in our journey and had to either learn the hard way or just did without.
Hopefully seeing my list will also inspire your creative juices and you will be able to add more ideas so we can really tap into our inner entrepreneur.
eBay Drop Ship Store
The eBay Drop Ship Store is a great start-up business idea. I am so sure each and everyone of you at some point has used eBay right???
I think I started my eBay store in 2004 (yeah this fact shocked me as well).
Drop Shipping is basically the concept of an online retailer who does not carry any stock but instead once a customer places an order via their website, their supplier will package and drop ship the items directly to the customer.
Cuts down on warehouse cost and shipping time and the transaction is totally seamless to the customer.
Starting your eBay seller’s account is free and in a few hours you can have your first listing ready to go.
I learned everything I know from David Vu’s Udemy course titled eBay Drop Shipping with No Inventory Guide – Work From Home.
Helpful skills for eBay drop shipping:
- Time Management
- Internet research
There is absolutely no experience required and the learning curve is non existent, but there is a method you will want to follow to attract customers and David teaches you everything in his course.

This one is near and dear to my heart because it’s not something many people think of when identifying strong WAHM business opportunities.
I have been a Mobile Notary or sometimes referred to as a Signing Agent for 4 years and it’s a great business.
I have managed this business in my spare time as it offers great flexibility.
Once you have your notary license, you sign-up for different registries and they will contact you when they have signings available.
The key is to notarize multiple documents at one time. I mostly notarize Loan and Mortgage Documents, Home Refinance Packages, Wills and other Legal Documents.
These small jobs pay around $75 to $200 each and take about an hour for the actual signing and another hour to prepare your documents; 2 hours tops.
Helpful skills for Mobile Notaries:
- Organization skills
- Attention to detail
- Good customer service skills
One of the businesses I currently own and operate is an eCommerce store.
I love the freedom it affords me to work for just an hour or so while making great profits.
I learned everything I know from an industry expert Anton Kraly of Drop Ship Lifestyle who specializes in the drop ship method.
Drop Ship Lifestyle offers a free 10 Day Mini Course to find out if the drop ship lifestyle is right for you.
Helpful skills for eCommerce Stores:
- Great organization skills
- Must be a self-starter and disciplined
- Be able to pick up on basic website design skills
- Able to easily adapt and make changes
- Great customer service skills
Online tutoring must be the best business idea I have heard in a long time.
I mean it just makes sense and is truly an evergreen business idea.
One problem I always had with after school tutoring was finding the time to work with someone being busy with sports and other activities.
Problem solved! Online tutoring from your home or desired location.
Elementary through College tutors are in demand.
Helpful skills for Online Tutors:
- In-depth knowledge of the subject
- An encouraging positive attitude
- Able to work with all types of learners
- Organization and management skills
- Communication skills
Gift Cards Exchange Business
This business model involves buying and reselling gift cards for stores and merchants that have unused balances.
This business concept is not well known but is a great first business idea to start.
You simply advertise for unused gift cards, purchase them from sellers for less than the gift card value, and then sell them online for a profit.
Helpful skills for Gift Card Entrepreneurs:
- Good negotiation and sales skills
- Communication and organization skills
- Comfortable working with new people
- Organization skills
I know that’s a lot to take in, but believe it or not this is not even the complete list.
There are even more WAHM business ideas out there.
Hopefully you are starting to see that finding a business niche will not and should not be a worry of yours.
We will find a business that perfectly suits you so you will be motivated to grow it to the fullest.
